As the women’s healthcare field continues to grow, Holy Cross is learning that their healthcare needs differ significantly from men’s. In a long tradition of Holy Cross providing cutting edge and compassionate care to its patients, we have extended that to include care specifically designed for women. We provide comprehensive women’s healthcare, beyond obstetrics and gynecology to include conditions that exist only in women, are more common in women and/or are biologically different in women.

Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center
The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex was specifically designed by women, for women to better address their healthcare needs and make their experience more pleasant and fulfilling. “Women will know their particular needs will be met because the Center was specifically tailored for them,” says Doreen Koenig, who has spearheaded the fundraising for the Center as Community Leadership Chair along with Monica Maroone and Sheri Whittington. “That’s something all women can truly value.” Phase 1 of the Center opened in 2010, providing comprehensive women’s services in a healing, serene environment including imaging, on-site physicians whose specialties include internal medicine and family practice, an osteoporosis program and a patient navigator helping guide patients to necessary education, information and resources. Like Phase 1, Phases 2 and 3 will include special programming, a medical spa, a meditation chapel and garden, a boutique, a lifestyle center, an education center and a café. Of this $15 million, a 55,000 square foot state of the art facility will be funded solely through philanthropy. We are creating a truly unique healthcare experience for the women of South Florida. Girlfriend's Club
Holy Cross has created the Girlfriend’s Club to help complete the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center. With a pledge of $5,000 payable over three years, Girlfriends become lifetime, founding members, are individually recognized on the Girlfriend’s Club Donor Wall at the Center, and receive exclusive invitations to Girlfriend’s Club luncheons, parties, educational events and activities. The number of Girlfriends will be capped at 200, creating a “million dollar wall.” Currently there are more than 150! The Girlfriends are leaving a legacy in women’s healthcare. That is why some have honored loved ones with a memorial membership. Others have opted to make donations to honor living best friends, daughters, sisters, aunts, cousins and mothers, giving them the Girlfriend title and recognition. Reverence Wall
“Holy Cross has a special place in my heart as that is where my mother spent her last days until she passed away in 2007,” says Nancy L. Brown of the Fritch Foundation. “I was very pleased with the care she received and wanted to give something back in her memory. I wanted to honor my parents and I felt The Reverence Wall was a very fitting way to do so.” The Reverence Wall at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center will showcase the sentiments of 20 very special donors whose inspirational messages will be inscribed on a spectacular installation of wood and stone with glass panels. These $50,000 donors will comprise a group dedicated to the mission of the Center to bring quality and compassionate care to all the women in our community. It will be installed in the next phase of the Center at the entrance to a broad, sweeping hallway gallery filled with artwork from local women artists. Each donor will provide a personally-fulfilling quote, something that resonates in their hearts including tributes to loved ones, lines from a favorite poet, a passage from the Bible, something to inspire others or simply something that makes them smile. Community leader Rita Case, of Rick Case Automotive Group, has already selected her quote:
“When your community is healthy, your family will grow in a positive, safe and balanced environment.”
This level of support also designates donors as Mercy Circle supporters of Holy Cross Hospital. Their names will also be recognized in the rotunda donor recognition area adjacent to the main lobby of the Hospital and on the major donor wall of the Women’s Center. The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center was designed by women, for women. As a part of Holy Cross Hospital, we provide the same compassionate treatment and state-of-the-art technology we have been providing for more than 55 years. So it is no surprise that so many generous donors in our community including the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation, Jan Moran, the Jeane M. Technology
The Jeane M. Dorini Imaging & Diagnostic Suite at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center offers state-of-the-art technology for women’s healthcare. The suite offers digital mammography, breast needle localization, stereotactic breast core biopsies, galactograms, bone densitometry, ultrasonography and breast MRIs.
